At Silva Chiropractic we utilize state of the art technology to help us locate spinal subluxations (nerve interference) and to monitor your progress.

OUR STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY WILL OBJECTIVELY HELP US :

  • DETECT AREAS OF NERVE DISTURBANCE
  • DOCUMENT AND MONITOR YOUR RESULTS
  • DELIVER THE APPROPRIATE CHIROPRACTIC CARE

MOTOR NERVES - Control Muscles

Surface Electromyography (SEMG Scan) - Measures Electrical Current of the Muscles. Your muscles are controlled by nerves. The SEMG reads the amount of electric current in your muscles to determine how well your motor nerves are functioning. Subluxations (misalignments in the spine) disturb nerve function and cause an abnormal amount of electrical current to flow to your muscles. These are indicated by colors or abnormal patterns in the scan.

MUSCLE BALANCE - Symmetry Muscle balance (symmetry) is extremely important because vertebrae in the spine depend on the muscles to move properly. Again, if there are misalignments in your spine (subluxations), nerve function will be disturbed. Abnormal electrical currents on either side of the spine will cause muscle imbalance to occur. As a result, the muscles can become weaker or stronger, tighter or fatigued. The Insight Millennium scan will detect abnormal muscle patterns, revealing an increased amount of tension/pull on one side of the spine compared to the other.

AUTONOMIC NERVES - Control Blood Vessels, Glands, and Organs

Thermal Scan - Measures Temperature Differences. If your normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees, then the left and right sides of your spine should also be the same. Your skin is the largest organ in the body, and the blood vessels under the skin work as the body's thermostat. (They expand to release heat and contract to retain heat controlling the body's temperature.) When there is disturbance somewhere in the Nervous System, the blood vessels are disturbed, and it causes the body's thermostat to malfunction. This results in an imbalance temperature reading along the spine, which is measured with the Insight™ Millennium. Your blood vessels are controlled by the same part of the Central Nervous System that runs your organs and glands, known as the Autonomic System. This thermal scan provides us with the information to monitor the Autonomic System for proper function.

Frequently asked questions about the Insight™ Millennium

1. Do the Insight™ Millennium scans hurt?

NEVER. The tests are completely non-invasive; they do not use any needles, electrical shock or heat. These are safe, painless and reliable diagnostic tests that measure the functioning of your nervous system & whether any messages from your Brain and Central Nervous System to the rest of your body may be being compromised. These tests are unique in that they display the functioning of your nervous system without having to rely solely on symptoms. Since the health of your nervous system can determine the health of your body, this provides critical information, which is vital to your care.

2. Are the Insight™ Millennium scans safe?

Yes, scanning is totally non-invasive. Nothing is put into the body. Thermal scanning utilizes infrared sensors to measure body temperature change with out the use of radiation. sEMG scanning measures the electrical activity within the muscles themselves. Therefore, scanning as used at this center is completely safe for everyone including children and pregnant women.

3. Why does the Chiropractor administer these tests?

Our purpose is to detect abnormal function in the spine which cannot be seen on x-ray or measured by palpation of your spine. Abnormal spinal function due to vertebral subluxations, causes abnormal Nervous System disturbance. The scans are one part of the objective analysis of your spine and nerve interference from vertebral subluxations.

4. Why is it important to monitor the results?

Dr. Silva wants the best results for his patients. He can easily monitor your changes through periodic progress exams. It has been proven that a very slight amount of pressure can disturb Nervous System communication whether or not symptoms are present ! Monitoring the functioning of your Nervous System is vital in improving your health and well-being.

5. How will this test benefit me?

For years, a concern of the public has been, “ Why do I have to keep going to the Chiropractor when I'm pain-free ?” or “ How do I know if I'm getting the proper amount of adjustments ?” Now you are able to actually see the changes , and it will be easier to understand the amount and type of care you are receiving. This technology has allowed Dr. Silva to provide a “tailor-made” program to meet your specific needs.

6. Why are children scanned?

Children can develop their first subluxations at birth. Caesarian section, forceps delivery and vacuum extraction can place a tremendous pressure on a baby's nervous system. Lacking the ability to communicate, babies with subluxations often exhibit unexplained crying, colic, poor sleeping patterns and other symptoms. Children are also at risk of spinal misalignments due to falls while learning to crawl and walk, and many other “normal” traumas that children experience.

An old saying states that “as the twig is bent, so grows the tree”. There is never a better time to address nerve stress than before it has had a chance to evidence itself with conditions and symptoms. The scans have value in measuring nerve disturbance in children regardless of their symptoms. What you do for your children today will determine the quality of health and life they experience as adults. Our passion at Silva Chiropractic is to offer family chiropractic care so that children can grow and develop to their best potential. Chiropractic care is a family affair!

7. Why do I need X-rays as well as Scans?

X-rays reveal the structure of your spine. They reveal the situation from a skeletal (boney) perspective. Primarily we use x-rays to determine spinal alignment and the relationship of one vertebra to another and the possibility of spinal nerve irritation. They allow us to see any obvious fractures and degenerative changes (spinal decay). The Thermal and sEMG scans provide information relating to the function of the spine and nervous system. Together these diagnostic tools assist us in locating spinal subluxations and monitoring your progress.

8. When should Scanning be Performed?

  • As an initial baseline of spinal function prior to beginning care.
  • Periodically to monitor subluxation correction.
  • Following changes to your spine e.g., after Trauma.
